What this is
Piotboard is a place for honest debate. Each board is one question that stays open, with a live vote anyone can join. There is one board per question, so "best NFL quarterback of all time" exists once and everyone argues it out there. You see where people land, and why.
It is not a social network. Reading and voting are free. Writing has a few limits, and low-effort takes sink because other members rate them down.
How it works
Search first. If your question exists, answer it there. Duplicates get merged.
One vote and one take per board. Change either any time. Edits keep their history.
Members rate takes. A strong, sourced take makes its vote count for more in the reasoned vote.
Two results on every board
Popular vote is one person, one vote. Reasoned vote is the same votes, weighted by how well the take behind each one was rated. When they agree, the room is solid. When they split, that is the board worth reading, and the explore page shows those.
Three kinds of board
- Poll. Pick one from a fixed list. The opener sets the options; members can propose more.
- Stance. A statement, scored 1 to 10 from strongly against to strongly for. You see the average and the spread, because how strongly people feel matters.
- Open. Members write the answers. Similar answers merge, and the top ones become pickable.
Who runs it
Boards go live automatically after a quick check for duplicates and rule breaks. Replies are earned through standing. Framing notes and the fit check let the room fix a board without a moderator. Admins only step in for held boards, flags and appeals, and everything they do is logged.
